Pharmacists are responsible for knowing the purposes, effects, and side effects of various drugs. They should be able to tell from looking at a patient's profile whether or not it is safe to combine new medications with the medications that the patient is already taking. Modern drugs have the potential to significantly improve patient's quality of life, however, they must be taken correctly, with the proper frequency, and in the appropriate dosage.
A caregiver in this position works a hybrid regional schedule, Monday-Friday 7:30am – 4pm or 8am - 4:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services
Verify medication orders and/or dispenses medications accurately according to state and federal regulations
Document services in a complete, accurate, and timely manner
Actively contributes to medication safety initiatives
Utilize available technology proficiently and to the full extent, in their area of practice
Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards
Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences
Direct staff to provide safe and efficient care
Maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers
Promote a positive work environment by providing constructive ideas and feedback to improve services and the department
Educate and trains students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients
Provide cost-effective care
Accountable for drug use policy adherence
Utilize time and resources effectively
Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
PharmD or Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience.
Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire.
For individuals required to administer immunizations: current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
For individuals required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events: current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or willing to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Board certification preferred
Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a specialized pharmacy practice area (i.e. Critical Care, Oncology).

Physical Requirements:
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
Must have normal or corrected vision.
Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
