Job Description
Graduate Studies Assistant Dean of Advisement
The Assistant Dean of Advisement in BYU Graduate Studies leads and coordinates advisement policies and related processes across the University for approximately 3,000 graduate students. The assistant dean directly advises at-risk graduate students -- and trains graduate program managers, graduate program coordinators, and college associate deans how to appropriately advise and support all the University’s graduate students.
What you will be doing in this position:
Actively lead the creation and implementation of all policy, procedures, and processes for graduate programs in the context of advisement, while also ensuring departmental compliance with University and Graduate Studies requirements and accreditation considerations for graduate students.
Training and Consultation
Represent BYU Graduate Studies with the University at large and on appropriate committees, such as various advisement committees and the University’s Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Committee.
Manage, train, develop, and mentor 1 to 2 student employees and 0 to 1 staff employees who directly assist with advisement and related processes -- along with other student employees, graduate student society leaders, and staff who indirectly assist with advisement processes.
Represent BYU Graduate Studies and the University’s 90+ graduate programs with peer institutions and national associations.

Pay Grade: 52
Typical Starting Pay: $63,500.00 - $82,500.00
