The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking motivated & talented Systems Engineers (Lead or Senior) to join the Systems Engineering Team in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) organization is dynamic and growing with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of critical missions for national defense involving Directed Energy. You will be expected to work highly complex technical problems, develop advanced technical ideas and guide their development into final products / systems.
There may be up to 10% required travel domestically depending on business needs.
Position Responsibilities:
Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces
Performs and leads complex analyses to optimize total system and/or system architecture
Conducts analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, survivability, human systems integration, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance, product security (cyber security) and other factors to determine a preferred configuration
Defines and coordinates system performance requirements and technical parameters for complex systems
Analyzes and translates requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications
Develops and documents electronic and electrical system requirements
Performs and leads circuit design (PWB layout, thermal analyses, power analyses, EMI analyses)
Leads development of verification and validation methods, processes, logic, and plans in support of program milestones
Leads subsystem and system level assembly, integration and verification activities
Performs and leads software development and software test integration
Performs and leads testing and validation activities to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements
Ensures system meets product traceability and configuration management requirements
Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of the requirements management processes
Contributes to the development of systems engineering principles and concepts as well as advanced systems engineering practices
Leads technical teams to successfully complete multiple aspects of major programs and may function in a project leadership role
Systems and Performance Analysis, Model & Sim, Algorithm Development Responsibilities May Include:
Evaluates systems under various scenarios and architectures to determine and/or optimize overall system mission performance in a framework giving insight into performance
Develops and maintain analysis tools of varied fidelity including modeling and simulation tools to predict performance against evolving threats of current and future defense systems
Performs systems analyses of the existing system architecture in conjunction with new technologies and concepts for improvements to be considered for future architectures
Develops, refines and documents key algorithm capabilities to support various DoD customers
Conducts analysis of multiple targets discrimination for survivability, vulnerability, and susceptibility into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success
Model Based Engineering / Systems Engineering Responsibilities May Include:
Utilizes Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, processes and architectures
Manages configuration, data and work flow of program specific MBSE tools and processes
Establishes protocol / process for integration of engineering tools with MBSE
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years of experience in systems engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience applying and teaching systems engineering processes and principles
Experience/recognized job expert of system architecture, requirements, interface definition, verification, and validation
Experience/recognized job expert with complex systems development and integration
Experience/recognized job expert in modeling or simulation of complex systems
Experience/recognized job expert of statistical analysis, distributions, and sampling
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
Experience with implementation and maintenance of systems engineering tools, schedules and metrics (i.e. Earned value management, DOORs, CAMEO)
Experience with mentoring and teaching junior engineers

Summary pay range (Senior, Level 4): $119,850 – $162,150
Summary pay range (Lead, Level 5): $147,050 – $198,950
