About This Role:
Biogen is seeking a Scientist II in Analytical Development to join the thriving Small Molecule Analytical Development team. As a Scientist II, you'll be at the forefront of supporting the development and qualification of analytical methods, playing a pivotal role in the progression of small molecule drug candidates through their development lifecycle. Your responsibilities will encompass collaborating with both in-house and external experts to tackle intricate analytical challenges, ensuring that our methods align with the highest standards of quality, regulatory compliance, and technical excellence. You'll be instrumental in the advancement of pharmaceutical products, from the early stages of development right up to the final phases. This is a lab-based role onsite at our Headquarters in Cambridge, MA.
What You’ll Do:
Develop and qualify analytical methods for small molecule drug candidates, adhering to quality, regulatory, and technical benchmarks.
Conduct routine and complex analyses of drug substances and products using HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and dissolution techniques.
Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and ensure documentation aligns with good documentation practices.
Collaborate with senior scientists and cross-functional teams to facilitate drug development from preclinical to late-stage.
Generate technical reports, contribute to regulatory submissions, and prepare documentation for filings.
Assist in the resolution of analytical problems, providing insight into method development and validation.
Remain updated on analytical techniques and industry standards to enhance methodological approaches.
Ensure timely completion of experiments, provide project updates, and maintain comprehensive records of all activities.

Required Skills:
Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline with 0 - 4 years of post-graduate experience.
Proficiency in analytical techniques such as LC, GC, dissolution, MS, NMR, and spectroscopy for drug substance and product analysis.
Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities, with a strong aptitude for experimental design and independent operation.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a talent for presenting data in a clear, concise manner.
A collaborative spirit, comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Meticulous attention to detail in experimental procedures, data analysis, and documentation.
Self-driven, quick to learn, and a steadfast contributor to team success.
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of regulatory guidelines (ICH, FDA, EMA) pertaining to small molecule analytical development.
Familiarity with data analysis software, such as Empower.
Experience in method validation and conducting stability studies.

Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
