Senior Mechanical Engineer - Program Management
Skills
- Expertise in thermal engineering for district energy, utilities, and combined heat and power systems.
- Knowledge of gas turbines, gas engine gensets, HRSGs, steam turbines, cooling towers, boilers, chillers, heat pumps, and pipe distribution systems.
- Familiarity with industrial codes and standards such as ASME, NFPA, ASHRAE, EN, ISO.
- Experience with thermal design and performance modeling tools like GT Pro, Gate Cycle, or Termis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments accurately and independently.
- Familiarity with data historians such as OSI PI and Web CTR.
Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual designs for power, heating, and cooling systems including equipment selection and cost estimates.
- Create specifications for materials and equipment procurement.
- Review OEM equipment configurations and evaluate proposals to meet technical and cost goals.
- Scope, contract, and manage consultants and contractors as needed.
- Perform process and performance assessments of district heating and cooling systems.
- Assure detailed designs and engineering work developed by contractors.
- Provide technical support for permitting and participate in safety and design reviews.
- Develop and witness Factory Acceptance Testing for major equipment.
- Respond to requests for information and release engineering documentation.
- Provide support for utility outages, construction, commissioning, and startup phases.
- Optimize system design and operations to meet network requirements and KPIs.
- Model thermal and hydraulic aspects of combined heat and power and district energy systems.
- Analyze thermal and electric loads and assist root cause analyses of operational issues.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and shared services teams.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
